Advisory services for Energy Access

  • Making SDG 7 a reality

The UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #7 is to “ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.” PowerSwitch is committed to supporting this goal through our projects. We provide discounted rates, and in some cases pro-bono services to developers of energy access projects supporting this goal.

  • Maximizing mini-grids

Across the developing world, there are an estimated 600m people (>8% of the world’s population) who do not have access to electricity. The World Bank estimates that 380m could be connected using mini-grids, off-grid renewable energy grids that include prepaid metering and distribution grids. PowerSwitch offers advisory services to design, build, finance and operate these grids.

  • Emerging market specialists

While the world has made great strides in renewable energy, most of these projects have been concentrated in the wealthiest countries. PowerSwitch aims to support projects in emerging markets by helping to de-risk these ventures and attract capital. Services in this sector include independent and owner’s engineering for utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects, as well as M&A diligence for projects and portfolios across the developing world.

Pre-construction

PowerSwitch offers comprehensive services of due diligence, owner’s engineering, and risk assessment for projects in emerging markets. This includes construction of and vetting financial models, regulatory compliance reviews, preliminary site layout work, designing RFPs for procurement, selection of suppliers, and negotiation of supply contracts.

Operational Systems

PowerSwitch offers services to analyze and improve the operation of existing mini-grid, C&I, and utility-scale energy systems in developing countries. This includes diligence of compliance with local regulations, verification of energy yields, assessing system growth, and addressing operational issues.

De-risk the future.
