Gebrehiywot (Geb) Mengistu
Lead Engineer

Geb (pronounced “Gabe”) is a power systems engineer with both high voltage systems experience as well as hands on solar and storage system designing skills.

Geb’s experience is in high voltage power systems, industrial control panel design, electronics, and power electronics design and development. Geb works as a power system protection and control engineer at Bonneville Power Administration, performing maintenance and testing, relay setting and coordination, fault simulation, fault analysis, and system design. Geb also has a strong interest in hands-on power electronics and microcontrollers for solar generation and residential/C&I level energy storage design. In the past Geb worked at an OEM industrial control panel design company, generating schematics, layouts, BOMs, and assisting production for redlines and modifications. Geb has also worked on a research and development team at an applied materials company, designing system schematics and system interconnect diagrams, cable harness designs, signal distribution board designs, sensor integration, and DC power distribution box design. Geb is currently working at PowerSwitch to support our clients to achieve higher levels of renewables penetration and optimize energy storage infrastructure design and investments.

Geb is an ardent supporter of renewable energy to fight against climate change and poverty and help move us towards a more sustainable planet. Geb takes solar energy expansion as a life mission to help fight poverty in developing countries and across the world, in a drive to bring power and water to everyone on the planet.

Drew Lebowitz, P.E.
Managing Director

Drew is an expert in the design, finance, construction, and operation of utility-scale energy storage systems. Prior to joining PowerSwitch, he worked for 4 years as Principal Consultant and Team Lead with DNV, a leading renewable advisory firm based in Norway. At DNV he was the Project Manager for over 1 GW of energy storage independent engineering (IE) projects, as well as PM for energy storage mergers & acquisitions assistance, technology reviews, and battery safety advisory services. Drew has served as an expert witness to provide sworn testimony in disputes around energy storage and microgrid. He has visited over 2 GW of energy storage projects at various stages of construction, and has performed manufacturing site visits, touring the battery plants for some of the leading cell, inverter, and integrated BESS systems on the market. He holds a B.S. from Cornell University and a Professional Engineering License in the State of Oregon.
